Transparent watercolor means that the whites of the painting are the whites of the paper. In other words, no opaque paints are used in the painting. It's a small change in wording but a great difference in executing the painting.
In my paintings, I try to organize the subject in a pleasing composition and then execute it in an impressionist manner. I like to use color combinations that may be unusual in rendering the subject, but hopefully it serves to stimulate the imagination of the viewer. After all, we've all seen green trees, so perhaps a little variation is welcomed.
Just enjoy the paintings and if you decide to try transparent watercolor yourself, dive in. One of my first instructors, John Pike, always remarked, "Into each life some rain must fall. Why not take up watercolor?"
